What’s Changing?

As part of the transition:

  • Salary packaging administration will be managed by Paywise
  • Employees will gain access to the Paywise platform and mobile app
  • Existing card arrangements will transition to the Paywise card solution provided through EML Payments
  • Existing balances and salary packaging records will be migrated as part of the implementation process
  • Ongoing support will be delivered through the Paywise Customer Experience team

Many aspects of your current salary packaging arrangements will remain unchanged, including:

Frequently Asked Questions

What actions will be required from the employer and from employees throughout the transition?

The Paywise onboarding team will provide communications, guidance and support throughout the transition process. Information will be provided in advance of any required actions.

What will happen to existing card arrangements?

Existing card arrangements will initially remain in place.

Employees will transition to the Paywise card solution provided through EML Payments as part of the implementation process. Further details regarding timing and activation requirements will be provided closer to implementation.

What will happen to any remaining balances on existing cards?

Any remaining balances will be transferred to the new Paywise card arrangement as part of the migration process.

Further information will be provided before the transition occurs.

Will salary packaging funds continue to be transferred in the same way they are today?

Yes. Existing funding arrangements will remain unchanged, with salary packaging funds continuing to be transferred in line with your payroll cycle.

Will employee fees change as a result of the transition?

Employees participating in standard Living Expenses and Meal Entertainment salary packaging arrangements will continue on their current fee structure.

Additional fees may only apply where an employee elects to access salary packaging options beyond these standard arrangements.

How long will current fee arrangements remain in place?

Current fee arrangements will continue in accordance with the terms of the applicable service agreement.

Any future fee reviews would be managed in accordance with the agreement and communicated in advance.

How will employee balances, deductions and salary packaging records be transferred accurately?

Paywise will manage the migration process and undertake validation and reconciliation activities to help ensure information is transferred accurately.

This includes employee balances, deductions and salary packaging records.

What happens if discrepancies are identified during or after migration?

Any issues identified as a direct result of the migration process will be investigated and managed by Paywise in conjunction with relevant stakeholders.

Support and guidance will be provided to employers and affected employees as required.

Will there be any changes to employee claims, reimbursements or account management?

Employees will continue to have access to online claims and account management services.

Additional functionality will also be available through the Paywise website and mobile app.

Will employers have access to an employer portal?

Yes. Employers will have access to the Paywise Employer Portal to manage salary packaging administration, view reports and access fee information.

Can multiple users access the employer portal?

Yes. Multiple employer users can be granted access, with permissions configured to suit your organisation’s requirements.

How will employers be supported during the transition?

The Paywise onboarding and transition teams will provide:

    • Implementation support
    • Training sessions
    • Communication resources
    • Payroll guidance
    • Ongoing customer support

Portable Electronic Devices

Salary package your portable electronic devices including mobile phones, laptops, smart watches and tablets and you could unlock tax and GST savings!

Accommodation and Venue Hire

Access potential tax benefits when salary packaging eligible accommodation or venue hire expenses. A wide range of accommodation types are eligible, from B&Bs to cruise ships, and from caravan parks to 5-star hotels!

Airport Lounge Membership

Eligible employees may be able to save on Airport Lounge Membership through salary packaging.

E-bikes

Salary packaging your e-bike is easy through Paywise, you’re able to package the cost of an e-bike that you use for work related travel.

Relocation Benefits

Salary package eligible costs associated with employer-mandated temporary or permanent relocation to access potential tax benefits.

Remote Area Benefits

Salary package up to 50% of your remote total rental costs without incurring FBT. Those with a mortgage in a remote area can package interest costs and access a 50% reduction in FBT.

Self-Education

Salary package fees, books and equipment for education related to your job, including courses at educational institutions, seminars or conferences, self-paced learning or study tours.

Superannuation

Salary package additional superannuation contributions, which could provide tax benefits and potentially grow your retirement savings.

Workplace Giving

Paywise can work with employers to enable staff to salary package donations to selected charities.

Other Deductible Benefits

Expenses you would otherwise be entitled to claim as a once-only tax deduction without incurring FBT, such as income protection insurance, professional subscriptions, financial advice or home office expenses.
